Summer Camp 20018

Posted on Jan 18 2018 - 2:31pm

If you and your scout haven’t had a chance to review the summer camp PDF that was emailed out January 11, please take sometime today to do so. Permissions form with the camp request you’re interested in and deposit are due to me this Monday, January 22nd.

Daniel Boone Permission Form

The troop will be attending a new camp (new for our troop that is), Camp Daniel Boone. The Troop’s PLC feels Camp Daniel Boone has something to offer every scout in the Troop! Their base camp offers over 50 merit badge classes and for scouts over 13 years old that would like to try something different, there are 5 different high adventure camps to pick from.

I will be at the beginning of Monday night’s PLC meeting to collect forms and deposits. If you would like to use Scout Bucks for your deposit, please indicate it on the form and email the troop treasurer treasurer@raleigh28.mytroop.us to let Mrs. King know.

High Adventure Scouts….Please get me your paperwork and deposit ASAP! There are limits to the number of scouts that can attend these programs and they have already started taking reservations.

Why should scouts attend summer camp? Baden-Powell, the founder of the Scouting movement, once said: "A week of camp life is worth six months of theoretical teaching in the meeting room." And national BSA surveys show that a Scout leader has a 300% better chance of retaining a Scout in the program if the boy attends summer camp during his first year. Camp provides a week of living the Scouting program!

While summer camp is a great experience for scouts, adults can also get a lot out of attending camp with the scouts. Please consider volunteering to attend summer camp.
